Everyone has the full freedom the follow the pathway of his choice

Of all the things that one can attain in life there is nothing that even remotely compares with the attainment of self-realization. When one reawakens his original enlightened consciousness this attainment far exceeds even the greatest accomplishments of world history. The benefit the awakened soul achieves are eternal and ever-increasingly auspicious unlike the temporary fizzling-out benefits of material attainments.

But for most people there is no question of searching for self-realization. They are simply interested in how to make money as much as possible and spend it for gratifying their senses and the senses of their family members. Even for those rare persons who have an inclination for self-realization, in most cases it is way down on their list of priorities. So the rarest are those who make self-realization the number one purpose of their existence. And the rarest of the rare are those who properly tread the pathway of self-realization following in the footsteps of a bona fide spiritual master.

Everyone has the full freedom the follow the pathway of his choice. If one wants to remain in the cycle of birth, death, old age, disease, Krishna will fully facilitate him. And if one wants to finish up his rotation in this never-ending cycle, Krishna will provide him with a bona fide spiritual who can save him.

All we have to do is sincerely desire to attain spiritual perfection and then we will see how Krishna has given us everything we need in order to attain it. We will see how He has given us His teachings in form of the Bhagavad-gita. We will appreciate how He has made Himself so easily available in the form of His inconceivably sweet holy names. And we will be in a state of wonder to see how we can so easily approach Him and qualify to become one of His intimate associates by serving His pure representative, the bona fide spiritual master.

Dharamputra was fond of peace and was ever against any quarrel

In the thirteenth year, hiding all their weapons in the hollow of a tree in a burial ground, all the Pandavas with Droupadi went to the palace of the king of Viratas and stayed there as servants. Duryodhana was making frantic efforts to discover them . When he heard about strange murder of Kichaka , the brother-in-law of the king, he concluded that Pamdavas must be in the Virata country . So the Kouravas attacked the Viratas, with apparent purpose of carrying away its cattle-wealth. Of course the Pandavas took part in the battle , but when they were recognized as Pandavas the time limit of thirteen years had already passed.

Dharamputra was fond of peace and was ever against any quarrel , much less war. So he ssent Krishna as a messenger to Hastinapura to claim his kingdom back from Duryodhana. But would Duryodhana give? No. He had by this time come to regard Indraprastha as his own. He not only refused to give his kingdom back, but refused to give even five houses for the five brothers to live! Nay, he swore, he would not give even a pin-point of ground to them.

Not many of us are aware of what is enough to make us happy.

In our dizzily consumerist culture, we make ourselves miserable in the pursuit of more than enough without pausing to think of what we really need

THEY say the right time to stop eating is just before your stomach is full, because it takes a while for the stomach’s message of satiation to reach the brain. So, if you wait till you feel full, you will already have eaten more than what was enough for you.
If you are smart, you will be able to figure out that the right time to stop is while still hungry. If only Deputy Collector Nitish Thakur had heeded that message, he may not have found himself become a shining statistic on our country’s ever-burgeoning corruption stakes — one of the biggest graft catches in India ever! Thirty-six properties and assets worth 118 cr, 10 luxury cars…. Come on, how much does a man need?
When we were kids, a game of Ludo, a carom board, a set of playing cards and some playing dough seemed good enough entertainment. Today, the best battery-operated toys, gizmos and games are acquired from around the world only to be outdated the moment new stuff gets launched. Xbox seemed good enough till Xbox 360 was announced. The iPod, iPad, laptop, car, and TV are all enough only till slightly more updated versions are launched.

In a dizzily consumerist culture, we are not allowed to feel satisfied, and are conditioned to want more, no matter what we already have. And that ‘more’ always exceeds ‘enough’.
The problem is that we allow a hyper-consumerist culture to dictate our needs and definition of enough. It is important to understand that what is enough for one person may just be the first milestone in the journey of desire for another. Why covet what another has when you may have no need for it?
So then how do you know what
is enough for you? Just the bare necessities of life? Food, shelter, clothing stabilise things enough to make us reach for something beyond, which marks the difference between existing and living. In order to live well and be on top of life, you need that extra something.
That X-factor varies from person to person. For one it could be money, for
another travel, for yet another, the challenge of forming and running a business. A sense of adventure may attract some, while others may be charmed by the idea of a life of meditative calm — reading, thinking, writing, interacting with friends and loved ones.
But the end result everyone seeks by aiming at ‘enough’ is the same — happiness. When you have what you deem is enough, the one thing it will make you is happy. Or, so you think. So when you keep shifting your goal post of ‘enough’, you also keep shifting back the time when you will be happy and satisfied.
How do we decide what is enough? This can be best done backwards, starting with the end
result. Once the basic needs are taken care of, think about what makes you really happy? And in order to be in that space, what do you really need — money, space and time for yourself ? People around you? Helping those less fortunate? Some talent or skill?
Are you earning as much as you need or pushing yourself to get more
than ‘enough’? What for? If you were to give up that extra shove and instead, spend that time to pursue what makes you really happy, would your life be better? After all, it would be silly to love money for the sake of it? Are you aware of what you are pursuing all that money for? What do you want it to do for you?
Remember Leo Tolstoy’s popular Russian story “How much land does a man need?” Pahom, a peasant dies exhausted in pursuit of his dream of owning large areas of land. He is rich finally, but now all the land he needs is a sixfoot long grave.

Become Free of Likes and Dislikes

One of the main obstacles in the path of God Realization is having likes (attraction) and dislikes (aversion).   They are thieves.   When you engage in spirituality, often the likes / dislikes shift from worldly matters to spiritual matters such as – we do not believe in Shankarji.  We will only say "Jai Shri Krishna" but not "Jai Shankar." Or thinking that if we say "Ram Ram,"  while believing in Krishna, we will be without a foundation, a support.   Such things are like carrying with us biases that will surely lead to hell.    Even in our worship, contemplation/ thinking if we hold on to likes/dislikes, it will take us to hell!
The obstacles are only in our mind.  There is no other obstacle.  There never was, there cannot be.  "Let things happen according to my wishes" - this is the main obstacle.   Some say Allah O' Akbar, and others say Sita Ram, or Ram Ram or Krishna Krishna.  Now it is not necessary that you say Ram Ram, but you must get the same joy when hearing Ram Ram, knowing that it is the name of the our Lord.  We must become happy, that they are speaking our language (spiritual/divine) in worship and reverence of the Lord.  If anyone wants to attain the Divine Truth (God), he may do so in any form, or worship any name; it is all OK.   Why must we have dislikes?    Ram, Madhav, Mukund, Damodar are all names of Bhagwaan (God), similarly, Allah, Akbar are names of God.  Therefore let us feel joy, let us be pleased, that everyone is calling out to the Lord in their own way.
Remove likes-dislike from your heart, in whatever way that you can .   When you are counting, add any which way you want, but the total must add up.   Similarly in total there should be no likes-dislikes.   Get rid of all of these  -  Good-not good, favorable-unfavorab le, attraction-repulsio n, in which ever way you can, whether it be through scriptural teachings or other, then you will be greatly benefited.
"Jneyah sa nityasannyasi yon a dvesti na kaanksati |
Nirdvandvo hi mahaabaaho sukham bandhaat pramucyate  || (Gita 5/3)
He who neither hates, nor desires anything, should be known as a "Nitya Sannyaasi" (ever a renouncer); being free from dualities (pairs of opposites) he is liberated easily from bondage, O mighty-armed (Arjuna).
Gitaji says that if you become free from the pairs of opposites, then you will joyfully be liberated.   Liberated you already are naturally.   It is only due to foreseeing likes – dislikes (attraction and aversion) that you have become trapped.  And what is bondage?   This is good and this is bad, this is alright-this is not etc – this itself is bondage.   Get rid of this account once and for all from the mind, and you will be freed.  Do it and see for yourself.  Find any solution.  You are free in finding a solution.   Do what the Gita, Ramayan, Bible, Quran etc. say in it. Whatever comes to mind, do that, but in "total" (all-in-all) , attraction and aversion (likes-dislikes) ,  elation-dejection etc. should not be there.
"Yo  na hrshyati na dveshti, na sauchati na kaanchati |  Shushbhaashuparitya agi bahktimaanyah same priyah" ||  (Gita 12/17).
However much you study, however educated you become, however knowledgeable you become of the Vedas, but if there is likes-dislikes in the heart, then you will not be benefited.  "Aachaar heen na punati vedah."  In proper conduct, there is no likes-dislikes.  Why is Gitaji liked by all?  In Gitaji the main emphasis is on salvation, on liberation.  There is no insistence.  There is no dislikes.  Whether you are a Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian, Jain, Jewish, Parsi or any other, become free of dislikes and dislikes, and you will smoothly cross this ocean of life.   If you become a Hindu, or a Muslim, and have your own little groups, then will not likes and dislikes remain or will they not?   "Mana changaa to kathoti Ganga".   Make your mind "changa"  ( good, honest, kind etc.) and there will be nothing but great joy, delight, bliss!

Feeling of Oneness (Apnapan) with God by Swami Ramsukhdasji

Gentlemen! When we become God's, then it becomes essential for us to conduct in the best of best ways with God's creation – this world.  This entire world is the Lord's, and everyone in it is our master.  On having such sentiments, our conduct with them will be very good.  Our conduct will be one of renouncing and sacrificing, our treatment will be one of seeing to their well-being and of serving them.  By this our conduct will be purified.  Our spirituality will be perfected, and we will be liberated from this world.  Therefore by being God's, do His work.  Serve all seeing them as God's creatures. Within have the sentiments that -
Sarve    Bhavantu    Sukhinah,       Sarve     Santu    Niraamayaa,
Sarve Bhadraani Pashyantu, Maa kascchid Dukh bhaagyebhevet.
May all become happy, may all be free from disease;  May there be nothing but auspiciousness in everyone's lives; May no one undergo pain or suffering. If we develop such sentiments, then whether the entire world is happy or not that we do not know, but we will certainly, without any doubt, become happy.
Do me a little favor!  Understand this point attentively!  In the path of devotion, only the sentiments have to change that I am God's and God is mine; This world is not mine and I am not of this world.   It has come in the Gita -
              Ananyaascintayanto    maam    ye   janaah   paryupaasate;
             tesaam nityaabhiyuktaanaam yogaksemam vahaamyaham.

                                                                                                         ( 9:22)
"To those men, who worship Me alone, thinking of none but Me, who are
ever-devout, I make provisions to protect what they have and I also provide them with all the necessities that are required." (Gita 9:22) and
"ananya chetaa satatam...  tasyaa ham sulabh paarth"  (Gita 8/14).
To become God's exclusively and to contemplate on Him means – I am only God's and only God is mine.  For those who do so, God says – "tasyaahum sulabh"  i.e. He who uniquely, undividedly, and exclusively becomes Mine, who remembers and retains Me, to him I become easily attainable.
Gentlemen!  He who is a trader, if he is shown something good, then he will not leave it; because in it he will gain a lot. Similarly, he who desires his spiritual progress, for him a very great and simple-straight forward point is  to concede, to adopt that I am God's and God is mine.  If this belief is firmed, fixed, and unyielding, than today itself one can attain perfection, absoluteness. Do me just a little favor. Have that much kindness and consent to this point firmly - that "I am God's and God is mine".  It is the truth!  I am not deceiving you.  Before you were God's, in the end you will be God's, and now too you are only God's. Whether you concede to it or not, you are only God's, of this there is no doubt.

Goal of Human Life by Swamiji Ramsukhdasji

God, by showering His grace has blessed us with four things - 1) this human life, 2) the understanding 3) the means and 4) the capabilities. These four things have been given to us primarily for the purpose of realizing the Truth (attaining salvation, God or Self Realization).

A very important point here is that the time, the means, the understanding and the competencies that we currently have, if we engage them all in realizing the Truth (God, Self) then perfection (realization) in human life can be achieved.
We have already been provided all that is needed for God Realization. And if there is any thing lacking (deficiencies), then God will fulfill those deficiencies Himself. The kingdom of God is open at all times for everyone.

It is said in the Ramcharitramanasa - "Kabahu kari karunaa ner dehi; Det is binu hetu sanehi." (Manasa 7:43:3)
In man there is a feeling of uncertainty, how can I realize God? However, this life, this birth is only for this purpose. There is no other purpose. Yet deep within us lingers this thought, this subtle doubt, that are we really capable ?
Are we really worthy? This feeling of unworthiness, is the greatest obstacle in realizing God. Just like a mother always accepts her child in her lap, no matter how good or bad he is. The child is ever entitled to be in his mother's lap. Similarly we are all eligible for God Realization, no matter what we are.

God says in the Gita "Api chetsuduraachaaro, bhajate maam ananya bhaak
Saadhureva sa mantavyah samyagvyavasitohi saha" (Gita 9:30)
Simply speaking, even if the worst of sinners becomes Mine, he should be considered a saint, because he is determined to turn towards Me, says God. Only due to his firm determination. Once this determination is made, can wrongful actions become obstacles in God Realization? Is God so very weak that He will be stalled by few actions?

Pay attention to this verse. It is mentioned here that God, is a well-wisher without any motive, and simply by His grace He has bestowed this human life on us, so that we can become free from sorrows and attain Him. The implication here is that God intends for our upliftment, our benediction. So with a little effort on our part, His intention will come true.

In summary the purpose of life is to serve others, to realize the truth (Self) and to believe that God is our very own. It is for these, that this human life, this human birth has been received.
